Arctic Dry Ice - Dry Ice Pellets in VT, NH and ME

Ideal for keeping foods and perishable items frozen, dry ice has approximately three times the cooling capacity as traditional wet ice and is extremely cost effective. Our 16mm dry ice pellets provide reliable cooling and longer temperature retention during shipping and storage. Their larger size reduces the sublimation rate compared to dry ice rice, offering stable freezing temperatures inside insulated containers for extended periods.

Arctic Dry Ice pellets are guaranteed fresh, high density, premium quality and made to order. We sell dry ice by the pound in any quantity you would like. Our minimum purchase is 5lbs and we can also deliver bulk shipments in 600 or 1500lb insulated containers.

Key Facts

  • Dry ice pellets are typically produced in 16mm (5/8-inch) cylinders, making them one of the most versatile forms of dry ice. Their uniform size makes them easy to handle, measure, and use for a wide variety of commercial and industrial cooling needs.
  • With a surface temperature of -109.3°F (-78.5°C), dry ice pellets are significantly colder than water ice. This extreme cold allows them to maintain frozen temperatures longer and makes them an excellent choice for transporting or shipping temperature-sensitive products. Dry ice naturally sublimates over time, even when stored in an insulated cooler. Freshly manufactured pellets provide the best cooling performance and longest usable life. Keeping pellets in a well-insulated container and minimizing exposure to warm air helps reduce sublimation.
  • Unlike traditional ice, dry ice pellets change directly from a solid into carbon dioxide gas through a process called sublimation. Because they never become liquid, they won't leave behind water, helping keep products, packaging, and work areas clean and dry.
  • Quality dry ice pellets are manufactured under high pressure, creating a dense product that sublimates more slowly than lower-density dry ice. Denser pellets provide more consistent cooling and longer-lasting performance.

Safety

Handling

Dry ice is an amazing medium but with a temperature of -109°F it’s cold enough to freeze skin cells and cause burn like injuries if not handled properly. Never allow dry ice to come in direct contact with skin. Always handle dry ice with protective gloves or a towel.

Ventilation

Dry ice does not melt like wet ice, it converts to carbon dioxide gas. If left in a confined space, the carbon dioxide gas will displace oxygen which may result in a suffocation hazard. If dry ice has been left in a confined space (such as a small room or closed vehicle) for more than 10 minutes, open the doors and windows before entering. Leave the area immediately if you experience shortness of breath or have difficulty breathing.

Storage

Never store dry ice in a container that is completely airtight. We recommend using Arctic Dry Ice containers. When dry ice sublimates to carbon dioxide gas, the gas pressure greatly expands. This expansion will cause an airtight container to expand and possibly explode, which may result in injury or possibly death.
